Donna Caruso's one woman show, The CLOTHESLINE, explores the real life stories of Donna's Italian grand-parents, immigrants to the New World in the early 1900's. Their story is about love, and trust, about pride, and about the profound consequences of decisions born of youthful dreams and the best of intentions. This is the story of the immigrants of yesteryear, when the world was large and oceans were one way.
Each item of clothing reveals another piece of the narrative, so that the story is formed by an assortment of fabrics from silky scarves to embroidered handkerchiefs-with all the slips and sheets in between.
The CLOTHESLINE is the first in a series of plays which uses the clothesline to tell important stories about family, about journeys, about philosophy, about character.
